Now more than ever, there are so many opportunities to learn. From books, to podcasts, to webinars, education is being represented across every platform. During quarantine, a lot of folks have turned to reading and spending their spare time expanding their knowledge of a new subject. What are you learning about?

Did you know that January was Human Trafficking Awareness month? And that human trafficking can include both labor and sex trafficking? Unfortunately, we have many kids that come into services with SA who have been victims of sex trafficking. This is a great time for all of us to be reminded to report any concerns in our communities to the National Human Trafficking Hotline at 888-373-7888, or to contact local law enforcement. Even though January is wrapping up, we can all stay vigilant and build some skills. If you are interested in doing some reading, Leslee (one of our Area Managers) recommends the book Renting Lacey. It is a great resource for both adult and youth education.

While many of the stories I share here are intended to be educational and inspirational in nature, we can never lose sight of the journeys that preceded these stories. Each individual’s journey is unique to them. Each individual’s story informs who they are, how they present, and what they stand for. The more we understand these stories, the more opportunity we have to support our clients in advancing their potential. The more we all understand each other, the better we can support our communities.

We are certainly all building our own story every day, right? Let’s remain kind to our neighbors and remember how many pieces go into each person’s story that we may not see up front. Stay safe and strong out there.
