Get to Know SA!

We’ve been working on a new project and we’re so excited to share it with you! A few of our staff have been compiling interviews with coworkers so you can get to know the people who work at Service Alternatives.

Meet Ashlie Soto! She has been with SA for the past 6 years.  Ashlie started as an Employment Service Specialist for Snohomish County Community Employment Services. Now, she is the Administrative Assistant at our Everett-909 location.

Working with the different managers and programs gives Ashlie an inside look into so many different areas of SA, along with being able to build great relationships. In her position, no day is ever the same and she loves the variety of projects that are always on her plate. The flexibility in her schedule is also a bonus for this mother of two!

What is your response when someone asks, “What do you do for work?”
“I explain a little bit about what my division (CES) does, and that I keep the machine running. I have many daily items that I tend to along with working on different and unique projects. I provide support to staff and managers, along with working in financial areas of car logs, and paying company bills.”

What does a typical work day look like for you?
 “I start each morning fairly similarly with checking emails. I make sure there are no emergencies or important items that need my immediate attention. I print out any relevant items, (bills/personnel files), note any upcoming meetings, and organize projects.” 

What three words or phrases would you use to describe your role?
“Time management, organization, and communication.”

What personal quality or skill do you think has helped you most in your job?
“The natural people skills that I have learned over the years. Being able to communicate on many different levels with so many different people has helped a lot.”

Given your experience, what would you say to someone who has just started in the field? What about someone who is interested in a job like yours?
“I would tell them to remember that the position is in service. It is a support role, a very key support roll. The managers and staff you work with, and their needs, are a priority. Building relationships with everyone you encounter is also key. Good partnerships, and a good team dynamic, are so important to keep everything running smoothly.”
